Synopsis

ESPERO? (HOPE?) is a humorous, entertaining but also educational animated comedy which sarcastically shows how Gaia, our planet Earth, met humankind years and years ago, and all the problems which followed. A criticism of our modern society and of the way we've been "evolving" over the centuries.

Director's BIO

Simone Giampaolo is an Animation student from Switzerland.

In 2009 , Simone attended the Foundation Year at the University for the Creative Arts in Maidstone (UK). This yearly course was crucial in building his confidence in the field of arts. He had the opportunity to experiment with many new techniques that he had never had the chance to work with before, as well as the first steps into animation. In fact, he created two traditionally animated shorts which were both selected and screened at several American festivals for young filmmakers. Simone’s short “An Apple-Ending Story” was even awarded Best Animation at Westport Youth Film Festival 2011.
While attending the Foundation Year, he also entered the 5th UCA’s Creative Challenge competition where his innovative idea won 3rd prize at the Design Council in London.
Simone's last independent stop-motion animation, titled "White + Black =RED" (2011), is a multi-award winning socially positive animated short which was presented at over 15 festivals round the world, in 10 different countries, and which was even broadcast on the Swiss television.
After gaining confidence and experience in traditional animation , Simone is now improving his computer animation skills, currently studying at the National Centre for Computer Animation in Bournemouth (UK), one of the most renowned university for Computer Animation worldwide.
