Director's BIO
In 2010 Ben Brand (1985-?) graduated as a Director from the Dutch Film Academy in Amsterdam. Ben is characterized as an actors director but he believes a well thought-out cinematic narrative is equally important. In his work he’s always searching for the thin line between humor and tragedy.
With his graduation film ' Day by day ' (2010) Ben won the grand jury prize for best short at the SMHAFF film festival in Scotland. In addition his commercial for the Young Director Award festival in Cannes won the Golden Hammer advertising festival Silver award at festival in Latvia, the silver drum at the Golden Drum festival in Slovenia, a Cresta International Advertising award in New York, and he was nominated twice for the Cannes Lions.
Currently Ben is working as a commercial director for Amsterdam based production company Caviar. Besides commercials he also just made his first two shorts ' Life is Beautiful ' (animation) and ‘97%’ which are both also produced by Caviar.
