Synopsis

In 2009, Rachel Uyarasuk, the elder of the Inuit community of Igloolik, evokes the ancestors whose name she received at birth. She explains how this transmission ensured their return among the world of the living.

Director's BIO

Christian Merlhiot studied at the French National Institute of Fine Arts in Bourges from 1981 to 1987. In 1995, he made a residency at the Villa Medicis in Rome and shot his first feature-film: “Les Semeurs de peste” (The Sowers of Plague) released on screens in 2003. Since then, he has directed more than 30 films, taught cinema in art schools, and was in residence during 6 month at Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto, in 2011, where he shot the film “Slow Life”.
